The Class teacher is Miss Borlase.
It’s been an amazing start to the year and I am so happy that everyone has settled in and are trying your hardest. Well done everyone! Continue to ‘REACH UP’ this term as we start our new topics.

In English we are moving on to our new text Black Dog and exploring things that spook and scare us so we can write our own story about a growing fear (that may not be as scary as it seems). Additionally, we will become journalists, aiming to write an accurate and informative newspaper edition all about Escape from Pompeii. In our guided reading lessons, we will be diving into Earth Shattering Events as we continue to improve our reading and comprehension skills
This term, in maths, we will be focusing on multiplication and division so that we can embed our new times tables, the 3s, 4s and 8s, as well as multiplying and dividing 2-digit numbers. This term we will have plenty of opportunity to put our problem-solving skills to the test!

This term is full of interesting foundation topics we can explore!
Our topic for science is forces and magnets. We will be investigating friction and magnet strength, including the way humans use this understanding for our technology.
We will be swapping our globes for timelines as we move to our first history topic of the year to answer the question: Why did the Romans invade and settle in Britain? We will investigate the success of the Roman Army and Empire and discover the impact they had on Britain.
Britain will also be a focus in our first design and technology topic of the year. We will recap our understanding of a healthy balanced diet and apply this knowledge to eating seasonally in the UK. In this topic we will learn and develop safe peeling and cutting skills too!
This learning will link excellently to RSE and PSHE as we learn about taking care of our mental and physical health in our new topic Health and Wellbeing.
Christianity will continue to be our focus in our RE lessons but this topic will be centred around Jesus as the Light of the World. We will explore what Christians mean by this and think about the people who are sources of light in our lives.
Our new music topic will be all about dynamics. We will be exploring changes in volume through the theme of space and eventually will create our own pitch patterns to represent different planets!
For our French lessons we say au revoir to our greetings topic and bonjour to adjectives as we learn different ways to describe colour, shape and size.
To keep active and healthy we have two new PE topics to enjoy. We will further develop our accuracy skills and learn how to evade as we play dodgeball and will be putting our muscles and balance to the test in gymnastics. Our PE days have stayed the same this half term so please come in to school in your PE kit on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Last but not least, we will become expert programmers in computing as we explore and create algorithms and learn about debugging.
This new term is packed with fun exciting topics. I hope you are as excited as I am to start exploring!
